Get your Netflix history in, without installing anything

One button, dragged to your bookmarks bar. It reads your own Netflix viewing activity — including everything you watched on the TV, the phone and the console — and saves it as a file you can import. Nothing is uploaded to us, and there is no extension to install.

Drag this button up to your bookmarks bar ↑

🍿 Sync my Netflix

Then go to netflix.com and click it.

How it works

1
Drag the button to your bookmarks bar. If you can't see the bar, press ⌘⇧B (Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+B (Windows).
2
Go to netflix.com and click it. It runs in your browser, using the Netflix session you are already signed into.
3
A CSV lands in your Downloads. Open the app → Import → “Choose Netflix CSV” → pick that file.

It reads up to 500 recent rows and takes about fifteen seconds, deliberately slowly — Netflix temporarily cuts off browsers that ask too fast. If you have more history than that, run it again later, or use Netflix's own Download all and import that instead.

What it does and doesn't do

It reads the same viewing history you can see yourself at netflix.com/viewingactivity. Because Netflix records that centrally, it covers what you watched on any device — not just this browser.

It runs entirely on your computer. Your Netflix login is never seen, never stored and never sent anywhere. The only thing that leaves your machine is the file you choose to import, and that goes into your own library.

Episodes are matched by name against TVMaze, and films go into your movie list. Anything it can't read confidently is skipped — we would rather miss one than mark the wrong one.

Why this is worth doing

Help Me Binge works out what each streaming service costs you per hour you actually watch. That number is only as good as the history behind it. With an empty library, a service you watch constantly looks identical to one you have not opened in a year.

Importing takes about thirty seconds and turns the subscription scorecard from a guess into a measurement — which service is earning its money, which one is quietly costing you £200 a year for four hours of viewing, and what cancelling the dead ones would actually save.

If the button doesn't work

Netflix changes its internals without warning. The official route always works: netflix.com/viewingactivity → pick your profile → scroll to the bottom → Download all. Then import that CSV the same way. Same result, a few more clicks.

Other services

Netflix is the only major service that exposes a complete viewing history to you. Prime Video, Disney+, Hulu and Max don't — and no tracker can auto-sync from them, including the ones that imply otherwise. For those, add shows as you watch or import from Trakt, Simkl, IMDb or Letterboxd.
