Privacy Policy

Effective July 5, 2026

The short version: your watch history lives on your device, not on our servers. We don't collect, sell, or share your personal information. We can't — we never receive it.

What we store, and where

Everything you do in Help Me Binge — the shows you track, episodes you mark watched, ratings, notes, household member names, and settings — is stored locally in your browser or app on your own device. We do not operate accounts or servers that receive this data.

What leaves your device

Optional TMDB API key

If you add a TMDB API key in Settings to unlock crowd-based recommendations, the key is stored only on your device and sent only to TMDB with your show-data requests.

Backups

The backup file you can download contains your watch data. It goes wherever you choose to save it — treat it like any personal file.

Optional accounts & cloud sync

If you choose to create an account, we store your email address and your watch data (shows, episode marks, ratings, notes, settings) with our database provider (Supabase) solely to provide sync across your devices. This data is protected so only your account can access it, is never sold or shared, and is deleted when your account is deleted — email hello@helpmebinge.com to request deletion. Without an account, nothing changes: all data stays on your device.

Community reviews & discussions (optional & public)

If you choose to tap “Share my review,” the rating, reaction, review text, and the public display name you pick are published so other Help Me Binge users can see them on that show’s page. This is entirely optional — nothing is shared unless you tap it, and you can remove your public review at any time. Don’t include private information in a public review or display name. Report abuse to hello@helpmebinge.com.

The same applies to discussion messages you post on a show’s page: your message, your display name, and whether you flagged it as a spoiler are published publicly to other users. Only post what you’re comfortable making public, use the spoiler flag when discussing plot details, and you can delete your own messages at any time.

Public profile & following (optional)

If you tap “Make my profile public,” your display name, your top-rated shows, your ratings, your finished-show count, and any reviews you’ve published become viewable by other Help Me Binge users — including through a shareable profile link and a taste-match score that compares ratings. This is entirely optional and off by default; nothing is shared until you turn it on, and you can make your profile private again at any time, which deletes it. If you follow someone, that follow relationship is visible. Don’t include private information in your display name, and report abuse to hello@helpmebinge.com.

Private messages between connected users

If you and another user follow each other (“connect”), you can send each other private 1:1 messages. These messages are visible only to the two people in the conversation and are stored with our database provider (Supabase). They are not public, not shown on profiles, and not used for advertising. Don’t share sensitive personal or financial information in chat. You can block a user at any time to stop seeing their messages, and report abuse to hello@helpmebinge.com.

Beta usage analytics

During the beta, the app may collect anonymous usage analytics (which features are used, how long sessions last, device type) via PostHog to help us improve it. This never includes your watch history, show names, notes, or identity.

We may also record anonymized session replays — a reconstruction of on-screen interactions such as taps, scrolls, and navigation — via PostHog, to see where the app is confusing and make it easier to use. Text you enter is masked and not captured, and replays are not linked to your identity. We will update this notice if these practices change.

Children

Help Me Binge is a general-audience app and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If we add features that change how data is handled (for example, optional accounts with cloud sync), we will update this policy first and note what changed. Material changes will be announced in the app.

Terms

Your use of Help Me Binge is also governed by our Terms of Use.
